Artist's Comments

Walkway at the Manchester Airport in the U.K.

Critiques

:+fav: I really dig the neon lighting, depth of field and (near perfect) symmetry of this capture. The contrasting shades of blue give it a truly futuristic feel. And the lines and arcs are very eye-appealing as well. It has an overall clean composition, which I appreciate in this type of photograph very much. I must admit, I've always liked these well designed people movers in airports. They seem to give the traveler a real sense of moving from the familiar to some unfamiliar adventure that awaits on the tarmac. This one has an almost time-travel appeal to it. ;) Nice job.... It really captured my eye. Well done!

I really dig this one, Troy. You're chosen to shoot this one below eye level, so the vantage is especially interesting, and I like how the neon lights above create a beautiful blue monochromatic tone throughout the entire image. Despite being a rather busy/chaotic place, I especially like how you've managed to capture the scene with no people; all attention is on converging lines, angles and patterns.
If I may make a suggestion.... I wonder how this would look if you cropped it square, with the vanishing point being the center of the composition? I must admit, I'm a bit into squares lately, especially when it comes to abstract subject matter.

this photo stands out not only because of the brilliant blues, but also because of the interesting angle. i'm hoping no photoshop filters were added to this....:)......but it's ok if they were. i could see how a little motion blur here and there and a bit of reflection and oversaturation might make an otherwise typical photo more surprising. if you did not photoshop at all, congrats on capturing a surprising bit of everyday beauty that would have escaped most all of us had you not taken the time to grab it with your cam. good deal. :D

Only editing done to this shot was a clarity brush in Lightroom, other than that the light and colors captured are as taken when I shot it. Thank you for such a great comment.

beautiful photograph then. i wasn't sure cuz it just seemed a bit too good to be true....which, on this site, is usually how it is.
i love photoshop and what it can help ya do, but i think it should be used sparingly by the true photographer (i am not and do not profess to be so)...dark rooms are where the magic of manipulation should occur.
things have become a little too easy with the convenience and immediate gratification of digital photography. i know because i'm guilty of it. alls well that ends well though....and your photo ended well. :)

Thanks again, I do not own photoshop yet. I would like to get it, but I too see that it can easily suck you in. LOL Thanks again....

Beautifully done. The environment really looks different with this kind of lighting.
